Lyx: A GUI based on latex concept, inputting like word while outputting like latex.

bibtex: The reference database for latex

jabref: A tool to manage bibtex reference database.

Some tips:

1) write document in lyx, which will satisfy most of situations. If necessary, lyx file can be seemless transfer to latex file.

2) use boxed minipage for the description of figures in the Caption part.

3) Celsius degree or other info required subscription or superscription can be written as math formula.

4) eps is the most accepted image type for latex, in contrast, lyx accept most of image type (such as .tif, .jpg, .eps), the lyx images can be transferred to eps images when exporting lyx file as latex file.

5) manage of bibtex by jabref:

• download ref from google, zotero or endnote.
• find duplication of ref.
• autogenerate bibtexkey.

6) some tips on reference style (.bst) can be referred to the link, http://amath.colorado.edu/documentation/LaTeX/reference/faq/bibstyles.html.

7) In lyx, figure can be centred by setting paragraph allignment as centre.
